Charming and chic hotel in cute historic district. The rooms are thoughtfully appointed with a cool mod vibe and local treats in the minibar. The restaurant was amazing with a warm and hip yet elegant atmosphere. The drinks were to die for: My daughter got the mocktail "No thanks I'm driving" and I got the "Not Manhattan". The Housemade Spaghetti with crab was both inventive and delicious. In the morning, we stopped by the breakfast bar for fresh blueberry muffins, fruit and breakfast buns. What a great weekend getaway!

Hotel Kinsley made my wife's birthday special. The location uptown is surrounded by many wonderful shops and restaurants. The room we stayed in was conveniently located on the first floor, less than 1/2 a block to dedicated parking. The large soaking tub, heated bathroom floors, comfy king-sized bed, electric fireplace, stocked mini fridge, and many other little nuances, make this place a wonderful get away.
It is a great alternative for individuals that don't like chain hotels, yet can't climb the flights of stairs that most traditional Bed & Breakfast places have, due to our disabilities. I want to give a special shout out to Bre, who went out of her way to set up our stay in such an memorable way. Thank you so much.

Had a great time! & special thanks to Katie and Shelby for making sure we had everything we needed! :) Kinsley Restaurant was amazing as well! Again, a special thanks goes out to Michelle & Alexis for the fabulous service and recommendations! I will be back! :)

Hotel Kinsley went above and beyond to make sure our anniversary stay was exceptional. The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The location is excellent, easy walking to a wide variety of Kingston experiences. (For those seeking live music, often experimental, Tubby's is less than a mile away.) Also, the continental breakfast was remarkably high-caliber. it may be the first time that I can remember being so impressed and actually partaking!

My friends and I ate here last night on a girls weekend and found the menu was limited and boring. Everything was fresh and tasty but nothing to write home about and we were not certain how much we wanted to eat. Starters are always our favorites. We ordered five starters to share and cocktails. We were not sure if we wanted main courses and the waitress informed us that she could only put in full orders and if we added to our order later, we would have to wait until the entire restaurant was fed before they would cook our entrees.
So we ate our appies and drank our drinks and left feeling disappointed by the limited menu and rules. The restaurant was not crowded and flexibility was likely possible but we felt like we were not special and worthy of that treatment.

The hotel was okay. I expected better service for the price I paid. First, it's hard to get hold of anyone. No one returned my multiple messages to get the necessary information. I finally got someone a couple days before check-in to ask about room service, the sauna, massages, dietary requests, and birthday requests - essential pieces of information were left out to make my stay better. 1. ROOM - Nice, cozy ambiance!
Unfortunately the main light in our room blew. The front desk couldn't do anything about it because maintenance had to fix it, but offered to bring an additional lamp (we declined thinking it wouldn't resolve much). 2. SPECIAL REQUESTS - Nothing nice was done for my partner's birthday upon arrival, though I was told "the cleaning service would handle it" when I spoke to the front desk.
I expect $400/night boutique hotels to put forth a bit more effort for these requests, or have something standard they do for these occasions given their resources. 3. THE WEEKENDER PACKAGE (TREATS AND PASTRIES) - I explicitly asked for gluten free and dairy free treats. Upon arrival, the front desk told me they were unsure if they were both, and not to eat them.
This was frustrating, because I provided this information in my booking request AND on the phone. They said they would follow up with me and get additional treats sent over if needed, but no one ever followed up.the lack of attention to detail was disappointing. Also, the pastries they put in the lobby should be labeled for people with allergies. I was unable to enjoy those, as I didn't know what was in them. 4. THE WEEKENDER PACKAGE (OTHER PERKS) - I noticed we didn't receive hiking vouchers, which was part of our package.
The front desk said they don't put them in the room because they're so small and get lost easily. This is understandable reasoning, but the vouchers weren't even mentioned to me until I called about them. Lastly, be sure to book EVERYTHING ahead of time. I wasn't informed that an appointment was needed for the sauna alone. Luckily, a woman in our building allowed us to use it before another appointment.
I called several times and left a message to book an appointment, but no one answered or returned my call. When I finally got someone on the phone, I was told there was no availability to use it before our checkout. I feel I paid money for amenities we were barely able to use. These instructions should be in the reservation details email, so appointments can be made immediately after booking. 5. FOOD - The steak and yellow curry from Restaurant Kinsley was great.
Generally speaking, we had a great experience with food in the Kingston area. There are many places to accommodate dietary restrictions. We were told by the front desk that we could get Restaurant Kinsley delivered to our room, but then I was later told we could not. We were not staying in the same building as the restaurant, so that's probably why.
But again, the misinformation was inconvenient. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. I'd recommend to someone else at a cheaper price point. Like I said, the level of service and attentiveness didn't meet the standard I expect for the price I paid.
