Action Outdoors was founded in 2004 by Mark Gillis and David Robertson through their frustration of searching for a reasonably priced way to go skiing. For many years their ski holidays were spent squeezed into a tiny French ski apartment with a large group of mates. The final straw was in 2002, when they had 14 people in an "8" person apartment resulting in friendships being put to the test.
UCPA is a huge French non profit organisation that offers over 80 different activity courses at 70 destinations across France plus a further 19 centres overseas. Union national des Centres sportifs de Plein Air, has built a 50 year legacy in the realm of French outdoor sports. Originally established by the government to encourage young people to take more holidays and experience the outdoor lifestyle, it is now a chartered organisation which continually promotes and grows the sense of enjoyment through outdoor sporting activities.

UCPA is a not for profit organisation set up more than 50 years ago to encourage young people to participate in outdoors sports and to make the top resorts and quality coaching more accessible and affordable. UCPA has changed a little over the years however the ethos remains very much the same. Therefore although there are some exceptional circumstances and packages, the majority of UCPA courses and holidays have an age restriction of 18-45. The UCPA has specific exemption from any Age Discrimination Laws in France and Europe due to the ethos behind the organisation.

I booked a holiday with them in a group, and requested a cancellation as I caught covid. Was told I would not be able to get a refund. The next day, France imposed travel restrictions and they gave refunds to everyone else who was in the group. Completely unreasonable that they're unable to provide me a refund when I wasn't able to attend just a few days before. An extremely unprofessional and unethical company that profits off people's misfortune. Take your business elsewhere.
