The 12 day Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen Hurtigruten trip, in April 2019, was from start to finish a wonderful experience. We had never taken a trip like this before. Jeff at Westgate organised the basic trip and excursions very efficiently and patiently answered all our questions. We would recommend Hurtigruten to anyone. The ship (MS Trollfjord) is beautifully equipped and all staff are extremely pleasant and helpful.
The onboard Expedition Team (Kari & Julian on our trip) enhance the whole experience. They gave presentations about Norwegian culture, Vikings, Svalbad etc. etc. as well as providing daily sheets with precise times for passing points of interest along the way-geological features, fast currents, lighthouses. They also organised excursions from the ship and kept passengers well informed about all ports of call.
The food on board was also of a high standard. Breakfast and lunch being buffets and an evening meal which was served. Local Norwegian products formed a large part of the menu. Meal times were also, sometimes slightly adjusted if an excursion from a port clashed, to ensure that participants in the excursion still received their meals. A wonderful experience; we still keep dreaming about being on board now we are back home!
